Provolo Family
a wine story, a family’s storyThe baton has passed from generation to generation. Each has been able to find its own harmony between the lived era and the inherited tradition.
Our story begins in the first years of the last century when Guglielmo Provolo, determined and proud man, decided to acquire the small land he had been working on for some years.
Even if he came from a large sharecroppers’ family, he recognized the great oenological vocation of these lands and he could imagine the growth and the development of a firm of his own: he decided to make an important investment acquiring the two grounds, which nowadays are our lands.
The baton then passed to Luigino, the only one of his five sons owning an inborn passion for wine. Man with a special character, an unlimited altruism and ambitious projects, he ran his firm in an edifying way, in spite of the difficulties of the Second World War.
Under his leadership in Fifties the winery defined ever and ever its shape and widened. From a tunnel linking the house to the woods, useful in case of a sudden need of escape, he realized an area dedicated to the ageing of wines in wood.
Then it came Marco’s turn, with his outstanding smell and palate, who, thanks to his father’s teachings, has been leading the firm since first Nineties until today.
Marco fulfilled his important task of technological implementation and care for tradition. Engaged with passion in the research for a continuous implementation, he has been able to resist the temptation to be appealed by easy trends, and goes on with the production of this harmonious grape’s nectar, according to the best tradition.
This huge passion is alive also in Matteo and Alessia who, with their father Marco, in recent years have been carrying on the now 100-year-old company.
Their immense interest combined with the studies undertaken, and above all with the teachings handed down over time, leads them to accentuate the historical characteristics of Provolo wines but with contemporary eyes.
